Adversity

I haven't wrote in a couple weeks, I'm trying to find balance. I decided I was going to focus on my family and take a couple weeks off Evening Table. The summers always seem to come with events, activities, and everyday craziness. Sometimes you just need to take a break and focus on the things that help you cope. I wanted to talk about adversity. This week a friend shared with me she was diagnosed with an unknown disease there is no cure for. Another friend of mine was at fear that she may lose her job. A friend who's recently been divorced for 3 years just found out her ex-husband is remarrying. We've all been here, faced with adversity and the anxiety that comes with the unknown path ahead of us. I heard once from a speech from Tom Osborne when people are faced with changes they do one of three things; Quit, Blame, & Opportunity.  He led to tell the story about a man who lived over 150 years ago. This man had an unfortunate early life, his wife died and he laid depressed bed ridden for months. Later he decided to get up and start a business. His business failed. So he decided to become a politician. He failed and lost time and time again. He tried 8 times and was about to give up, but he gave it another try. He then became president of the United States, his name was Abraham Lincoln. He didn't quit, he didn't blame others, he took all his downfalls and used them as an opportunity to keep growing! Look how he changed the world. How are you going to strive to overcome life's adversities you are faced with?
